Sun Salutation Yoga Pose

This pose is usually performed in a morning session because it allows the mind to relax and is calming for the body. These are just a few of the benefits of this pose and it is a brilliant way for you to start each day.

This is a common posture when it comes to Yoga. It stretches your joints and your spine, and also regulates your breathing which helps in calming the mind and body. It's usually a good exercise to start with.

How to perform the pose:

First, put your hands in a prayer position just in front of the chest whilst exhaling.

Secondly, whilst inhaling, bring your arms right above your head, back arched, hips forward, and make sure your legs are as straight as possible. This is a slow movement.

Next, whilst exhaling again, bend over so that your hands are touching the floor, then push them flat onto the ground, making sure that the tips of your fingers and toes are in line.

Inhaling, kneel down with one knee touching the floor and the other on your chest.

Then put both your legs behind you to support your weight in a push-up position and lower your body to the ground.

Point your toes whilst lowering your hips and arching your back. Remember to keep your legs touching and make sure you are raising your hips upwards.

Repeat these positions whilst alternating legs. By the end of it you should be on your feet, so stretch out and return to your original position whilst exhaling.

Warning: Remember though, if you are feeling any pain or discomfort, you need to slowly release your body out of the position that you are in so that you don’t cause yourself an injury.
